ABA Section of Taxation 2019 Fall Meeting

Erin Sweeney,* David Zimmerman, Sam Lapin, and Lisandra Ortiz will be speaking at the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Taxation 2019 Fall Meeting on October 3, 2019, in San Francisco, CA.

Erin Sweeney will present, as part of a panel, "Employee Benefits Fiduciary Responsibility & Plan Investments Update." This panel will discuss recent guidance and other issues addressing ERISA fiduciary responsibilities. Sweeney will also moderate a panel, "Move Over Say On Pay and Pay Ratio, Here Comes EEO-1 Component 2: The Very Latest Pay Disclosure Regime." This panel will address EEO-1 Component 2 disclosures and will provide an up-to-the-minute update on the litigation over the EEO-1 Component 2 disclosures.

David Zimmerman will present, as part of a panel, "Panoply of Hot Topics: Section 168(k) Regulations, Where M&A and Section 245A Meet, Section 355 - No-Income-No-Problem!, Cloud Regulations, and Other Current Developments!" This panel will review recent corporate tax developments in the domestic and cross-border contexts, including recently issues spin-off PLRs, practical issues arising as the dust begins to settle on the 245A temporary regulations, a primer on the cloud regulations, and other late-breaking news.

Sam Lapin will speak during the panel, "It's a Brave New World: Ethical Issues in the Information Age." This panel will explore real-life scenarios that impact all lawyers in their daily lives, such as best practices for safeguarding client data, geolocation tracking, immigration and customs searches, and checking your client's digital footprint.

Lisandra Ortiz will present, as part of a panel, "Can't Touch This: The Basics of Intangibles." This panel will provide a primer on the taxation of intangible assets and cover areas such as transfer pricing, Foreign-Derived Intangible Income (FDII), and Global Intangible Low-Tax Income (GILTI).
