ABA Section of Taxation 2017 Midyear Meeting

Layla Asali, Linda Carlisle,* Marianna Dyson,* Garrett Fenton,* Michael Lloyd,* and Erin Sweeney* will speak at the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation 2017 Midyear Meeting, January 19-21, 2017 in Orlando, FL. 

Layla Asali will speak on the "Corporate Tax 'Current Developments'" panel on January 21, 2017. The panel will explore current corporate developments in the legislative, regulatory and administrative practice areas.

Linda Carlisle will speak on the "Interesting Issues Under Section 1234A" panel on January 20, 2017. This panel will discuss issues arising under section 1234A, including its potential application in the context of various derivatives transactions and recent case law, and IRS developments such as Pilgrim's Pride, CRI-Leslie and LAFA 20163701F.

Marianna Dyson will speak on the "Who is the Employer?" panel on January 20, 2017. This panel will discuss common law and statutory employers, deemed agents and third party arrangements, and various organizational structures requiring an analysis of which entity is the employer.

Garrett Fenton will present during a session on wellness programs titled "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: An Update on Recent Wellness Program Regulatory and Litigation Developments" on January 21, 2017. 

Michael Lloyd will speak on the "Global Mobility and Frequent Business Travelers" panel on January 20, 2017. The panel will discuss the challenges companies face with nonresident alien employees performing services in the US. 

Erin Sweeney will speak on the "Fiduciary Responsibility Update" panel and the "Employee Benefits ESOP Update" panel on January 20, 2017. She will also speak on the "Will the Fiduciary Rule Survive the Trump Administration" panel on Saturday, January 21, 2017.
