Joshua Drew Discusses White Collar Crime Enforcement in the Wall Street Journal

Subtitle
"U.S. Likely to Step Up White-Collar Crime Enforcement"

Wall Street Journal

At the Wall Street Journal Risk & Compliance Forum, Joshua Drew discussed how, despite the recent decrease in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) cases, companies should anticipate more actions given how the Biden administration has made pursuing white-collar crime a priority. Last month, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said sanctions evasion and export control violations are a priority for the Department of Justice(DOJ), especially after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Monaco indicated that companies should think of sanctions in the same way as FCPA actions and that there could be an increase in sanctions-related enforcement, Drew said, adding that, "she seemed to be trying to raise awareness, make the point that sanctions, if in the past they were perceived as a niche area, that they are not any longer."
