Miller & Chevalier Named a Recipient of the 2021 IBA Group Member Awards for the Americas

Washington, DC, December 7, 2021 – Miller & Chevalier Chartered proudly announces that the firm was named one of the recipients of the 2021 IBA Group Member Awards for the Americas. The awards are given by the International Bar Association (IBA) in recognition of each firms' exceptional support and contributions to the work, projects, and aspirations of the IBA.

Highlighting Miller & Chevalier's support of the IBA Foundation's Rule of Law Town Hall series, the IBA specifically recognized the contributions of International Senior Counsel Homer Moyer, noting his work in organizing and moderating the Rule of Law Town Hall Meetings.

Firm Chair Kathryn Cameron Atkinson said, "Miller & Chevalier is deeply honored to receive this Group Member award from the IBA. The rule of law work and engagements, led for decades by the founder of our International department, Homer Moyer, and continued by several of our lawyers under the aegis of the IBA, are critically important endeavors. We are grateful to the IBA for the opportunities it has presented to our firm, both with respect to the professional development of our lawyers, and the opportunity to engage in meaningful pro bono work in support of the rule of law. We also wish to thank the IBA Foundation, which has supported various public education initiatives on which our firm has collaborated with the IBA. Finally, we would be remiss if we did not also recognize the IBA's collaboration with the Sandra Day O'Connor Institute on the Rule of Law Town Hall series. Both IBA Executive Director, Mark Ellis, and Homer have been deeply privileged to enjoy a decades long friendship with Justice O'Connor, a pioneer in so many respects, including in the area of educating the public about civics and the rule of law."

About the International Bar Association

The foremost organization for international legal practitioners, bar associations and law societies. Established in 1947, shortly after the creation of the United Nations, the IBA was born out of the conviction that an organization made up of the world's bar associations could contribute to global stability and peace through the administration of justice. In the ensuing 70 years since its creation, the organization has evolved, from an association comprised exclusively of bar associations and law societies, to one that incorporates individual international lawyers and entire law firms. The present membership is comprised of more than 80,000 individual international lawyers from most of the world’s leading law firms and some 190 bar associations and law societies spanning more than 170 countries.

The IBA has considerable expertise in providing assistance to the global legal community, and through its global membership it influences the development of international law reform and shapes the future of the legal profession throughout the world.
