Anti-Corruption Report

In this article, Maria Elena Lapetina, Katherine Pappas, and Manuela Jaramillo* discussed the Trump administration's coordinated approach to combating cartel activity and related implications for companies operating in Mexico. They expressed the need to bolster compliance programs to reduce the risk of inadvertently supporting cartel operations, urging companies to "develop clear crisis response protocols for handling extortion at-tempts, drug contamination in the supply chain, and reporting potential risks timely and adequately," further noting, "these types of protocols allow company employees to be better equipped to adequately assess and man-age these situations to ensure that appropriate personnel within the company become aware of these issues, and to ensure a consistent approach when these issues arise."
