In this article, Collmann Griffin commented on Malaysia's decision to slow down the pace of its expansion of data centers in the country, which is expected to affect Chinese firms' access to artificial intelligence (AI) chips. Malaysia has also begun to require permits for the export, trans-shipment, and transits of U.S.-made chips, under pressure from the U.S. government. "The U.S. Commerce Department has raised concerns that data centres outside China could purchase AI chips to train AI models in China," Griffin said.
