"FBI Increasingly Probes for Corruption Overseas"

Wall Street Journal

Matteson Ellis, a Member at Miller & Chevalier who focuses on international anti-corruption compliance and enforcement, commented on the expanding role of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in international corruption investigations. One particular FBI unit, which was set up in Miami, is supporting foreign bribery enforcement of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), kleptocracy initiatives, and U.S. money laundering cases. Ellis said, "The FBI has participated in these investigations for years, and it appears to be taking a larger and more focused and better-resourced role, especially in FCPA matters."
