Miller & Chevalier FCPA Webinar: Anti-Corruption Developments in 2011

As reflected in our FCPA Spring and Summer Reviews, significant enforcement and legislative developments relating to the FCPA and global anti-corruption laws occurred in the first and second quarters of 2011. The Miller & Chevalier FCPA and International Anti-Corruption Practice Group hosted a webinar discussing these events and their consequences for anti-corruption compliance. The webinar included a discussion of the following 2011 developments:

  • U.K. Bribery Act implementation;
  • Dodd-Frank whistleblowing regulations and their impact corporate compliance;
  • Recent corporate enforcement actions; and
  • Legislative proposals to amend the FCPA.

We were joined by Kristine Robidoux of the Canadian firm Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP. Ms. Robidoux represented Niko Resources Ltd. in its recent settlement with Canadian authorities regarding violations of the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act, Canada's equivalent to the FCPA. Ms. Robidoux provided an overview of the current enforcement climate in Canada.
