Samuel Lapin commented on the rising use of the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) alternative dispute resolution (ADR) programs, which saw a 25 percent increase in fiscal year 2024 and continued growth in 2025. These programs offer taxpayers a more efficient and cost-effective means of resolving disputes outside of litigation. The IRS has unveiled pilot programs aimed at expanding and improving the Post-Appeals Mediation and Fast Track Settlement programs. Lapin commented, "To the extent to which IRS broadens the availability of fast track or other ADR programs, I think that is a good thing." See our coverage of those pilot programs here and here.
