Mark Rochon and John Davis' representation of VimpelCom was emphasized by Dutch prosecutor Miranda van Turennout during a keynote speech at the GIR Live event in Washington, DC. Turennout praised VimpelCom and its counsel for how they handled privilege issues in the case. "Frequently, lawyers in the Netherlands use this [privilege disputes] to delay investigations," she said. "In the VimpelCom case we thought this would happen but then [VimpelCom's] US lawyers prevented this on the Dutch side by handling privilege issues in the legal and correct way but also in a practical way."
