Miller & Chevalier's representation of VimpelCom Ltd. was mentioned in The FCPA Blog. The Amsterdam-based telecommunications company entered into resolutions with the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Dutch authorities for allegedly paying bribes to a government official in Uzbekistan between 2006 and 2012. VimpelCom agreed in a deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) to retain an independent corporate monitor for at least three years, implement rigorous internal controls and cooperate fully with the government's investigation.
