Marc Gerson was quoted regarding Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus's recently released technical corrections package. Gerson said the package is significant because the last time a major technical corrections package was enacted was in 2007, and there have been several tax bills passed since then. The last time a technical corrections bill was even proposed was in 2009, Gerson said, noting that Baucus's proposal retains some of the provisions from the 2009 bill, drops others, and adds new corrections. "There are undoubtedly additional technical corrections that taxpayers are interested in that are not included in the new Senate package," he said. "Providing comments on the new Senate package is an ideal opportunity to have proposed technical corrections receive congressional consideration."
