Marc Gerson was quoted regarding tax reform prospects as the 2016 presidential candidates discuss their proposed tax plans as a means of spurring economic growth. "The priority of tax reform could be more important than the underlying substance," Gerson said. However, major tax reform likely will have to wait until after the election, in which several Republican members of the Senate Finance Committee are in play, in addition to the presidential vote. "It makes modest tax legislation challenging [in 2016]. Tax reform would be even more difficult," he said.
