Roll Call
Marc Gerson, former tax majority counsel to the House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, discussed the impending expiration of certain provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) at the end of 2025. The prospect of divided government in Washington complicates matters, making long-term agreements challenging. "It'll take them time to get their footing," Gerson said, emphasizing that tax reform is just one of many pressing issues Congress will face in 2025. Given the ideological divides and urgent priorities, a short-term extension may be more feasible than a comprehensive tax overhaul.
