Layla Asali, Tax Member and Chair of the DC Bar's Taxation Section, was quoted regarding the Section's recognition as "Section of the Year" by the DC Bar. Under Asali's leadership, the Section, which has 1,700 members and is one of the largest in the DC Bar, offered 63 programs, engaged its members through DC Practice Manual updates, provided assistance to the community with pro bono activities, including donating to the DC Bar Pro Bono Center and the Youth Law Fair, and became involved in authoring public statements on tax legislation. "Thank you to the DC Bar for recognizing the accomplishments of the Tax Section this year," Asali said. "All credit goes to our volunteers who put their expertise and professional networks to work in planning programs that keep the DC tax community informed about the latest developments in our constantly changing field."
