Kathleen Wach Quoted Regarding Juvenile Sentencing in Law360

Subtitle
"DC Sniper Case Stokes Debate Over Juvenile Life Sentences"

Law360

Kathleen Wach, the firm's Pro Bono Counsel, was quoted regarding the broader impact of a case the U.S. Supreme Court will hear this fall, Mathena v. Malvo, which challenges life-without-parole sentences for crimes committed by juveniles. Miller & Chevalier currently represents Derek Ray Jackson Jr., who was 17 when he killed a man during a convenience store robbery and also received life without parole from the state of Virginia. "It serves no purpose to condemn him to die in prison for his actions as a child," Wach said. "He is not the adolescent boy he was."
