Matteson Ellis commented on the continued rise of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) cases in Latin America. "FCPA enforcement activity in general is expected to remain strong, and cases related to Latin America will continue to account for a significant portion of overall cases," Ellis said. "This enforcement focus on Latin America is reflected in the number of FCPA resolutions involving the region. In 2016, approximately 31 percent of the combined corporate resolutions were Latin America-related, where the misconduct at issue occurred in full or in part in the region. In 2017, approximately 55 percent of all combined corporate resolutions were Latin America-related. Last year, approximately 33 percent of the combined corporate resolutions involved Latin America."
