Miller & Chevalier's Marc J. Gerson Elected a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel

Washington, DC, February 11, 2013 – Miller & Chevalier Chartered today announced that firm Member Marc J. Gerson was elected a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel (ACTC) by the Board of Regents of the College.

"It is an honor to be elected to the Counsel," Gerson said, "and to join the ranks of so many lawyers who have made significant contributions in the field of taxation."

To be eligible for nomination to the College, a lawyer must have been in practice for at least ten years and devoted the principal part of the time in practice to tax and tax-related matters. In addition, the lawyer must have demonstrated an exceptional degree of professional commitment to the practice of law through active involvement in the work of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association (ABA), by planning or speaking in tax seminars and programs, through holding office in tax committees or sections of regional state or local bar associations, through significant legal writing or teaching in the field of taxation or by holding a responsible tax administration position with the federal government.

"The firm is thrilled that the American College of Tax Counsel elected Marc as a Fellow," said Patricia Sweeney, Chair of Miller & Chevalier's Tax Department. "Though his tireless work in tax policy, his government service, his dedication to the Tax Section of the ABA and his numerous educational and speaking opportunities, Marc clearly exemplifies the election criteria set forth by the Counsel."

The College includes about 700 tax lawyers. Gerson joins four other Miller & Chevalier tax lawyers who are Fellows in the College: Dennis Bedell, Stephen Gertzman, Lawrence Gibbs and Thomas Zehnle.
