Tax Notes
Michael Desmond, former IRS Chief Counsel, discussed implications for tax enforcement amid recent leadership changes within the Office of Chief Counsel at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Desmond said that the agency is flexible and will endure despite the short- and medium-term challenges presented by the many recent changes. Different administrations regularly reconsider the IRS's priorities when they take over, Desmond said, adding that he hopes that chief counsel nominee Donald Korb will be confirmed soon. Korb will bring his own priorities to the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, Desmond said.
