Matteson Ellis Comments on Recent Full-Time Move to Miller & Chevalier in Global Investigations Review

Global Investigations Review

Matteson Ellis commented on his recent move to Miller & Chevalier, where he will work full-time as a Member in the firm's International department. "As a solo practitioner, you only have so many hours in the day, which is a limitation, but as part of a team of highly qualified FCPA specialists, I have more capacity to help more people," Ellis said. "My colleagues have seen pretty much every FCPA scenario out there -- having that support is central to the matters I am now working on."

Ellis, whose practice focuses on Latin America, said the move better positions him to work on more complex matters. An increase in activity by government agencies and the implementation of local laws is leading to major developments in Latin American enforcement, he said, adding, "It's such a relief now to be able to tell clients' subsidiaries and business partners in the region [that] anti-corruption compliance is no longer about US standards that you need to follow. You need to follow your own country's standards, as well."
