Marc Gerson commented on the tax-related campaign promises of the 2016 presidential candidates in TheStreet. "The presidential tax plans are more designed for 'stump speeches' on the campaign trail rather than actual legislation. As such, they are lacking in detail and tend to gravitate towards the individual candidate's base, either far right or far left," Gerson said. "So, while their respective plans are not formulated with enough detail to serve as the basis for legislation ... at this point, the fact that these plans exist and there is significant discussion of tax generally indicates that tax will be potentially a significant priority of these candidates if elected President."
