Larry Gibbs commented on the nomination of Michael Desmond to become chief counsel of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). "Mike Desmond is the ideal candidate to become the next IRS Chief Counsel," said Gibbs, a former IRS commissioner, noting the friendship between Desmond and Chuck Rettig, the current IRS commissioner. "That is a tremendous benefit, particularly in the context of what is required to smoothly, efficiently and effectively carry out the implementation of the tax reform provisions of the TCJA to benefit American taxpayers and their advisors who are attempting to comply with the new law's requirements," Gibbs said.
