Jorge Castro, former Counselor to the IRS Commissioner during the Obama Administration and Democratic Congressional tax aide, was quoted on the legislative prospects for the Middle Class Investment and Savings Act introduced on June 15 by Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) along with Republican colleagues, Senators John Barrasso (R-WY), Steve Daines (R-SD), and James Lankford (R-OK). "Sen. Grassley and co-sponsors of the bill are reading the tea leaves of the current concerns families have with inflation," Castro said. "They're going to inject these proposals into the discussion. If they're unsuccessful in enacting [them later this year], they know Republicans are likely to take the majority in one or both chambers of Congress [in the November's election]. These proposals are likely to feature in a Republican package next year."
