Subtitle
"Pick To Lead IRS Shows Biden's Eye On Budget Management"

Law360

Jorge Castro, former Counselor to the IRS Commissioner during the Obama Administration, said Daniel Werfel's nomination to lead the IRS sends a clear message the Biden Administration wants an effective manager with significant budget and fiscal expertise. Werfel, as former controller of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), oversaw the implementation of the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Since the IRS has received $80 billion in new funding under the Inflation Reduction Act, Castro said "they need someone with credibility that can properly implement IRA funding. His OMB experience clearly is going to be beneficial."
