Jorge Castro, former Counselor to the IRS Commissioner and former Congressional tax counsel, commented on President Biden's selection of Daniel Werfel to serve as the next IRS Commissioner. "He certainly has all the experience to be successful," Castro said, adding Werfel's previous tenure as acting IRS Commissioner will undoubtedly come in handy. Castro also highlighted Werfel's career at OMB where he managed budgets across the federal government saying "[h]is financial and budget expertise is obviously going to be extremely beneficial and important right now." Castro said the Biden Administration would like Werfel confirmed as soon as possible, however, he added that a quick confirmation would likely be "be a tight window."
