James Tillen was quoted regarding the results of Miller & Chevalier's 2012 Latin America Corruption Survey, which indicate a greater awareness of anti-corruption laws in the region, including more attention to compliance and more widespread familiarity with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).  "These results indicate a general view that people are less likely to get away with these crimes now," Tillen said, adding that increased enforcement in recent years of the FCPA, which makes it illegal for U.S. companies to pay bribes abroad, may have had a "snowball effect" by leading multinational companies in Latin America to adopt tougher standards.
