Huawei Indictments: Economic Sanctions and Export Control Risks for U.S. and Multinational Companies

In this article, Timothy O'Toole, Brian Fleming,* Collmann Griffin,* and Caroline Watson discussed the legal enforcement risks Chinese companies and their multinational partners, including those in the United States, may face in light of the recent Huawei indictments. The authors said to consider "the Huawei indictments as a useful illustration of the kinds of economic sanctions and export control risks that U.S. and multinational companies should consider when doing business in China or with Chinese partners," and offered the four take-aways legal and compliance practitioners could apply to improve their existing compliance programs and contingency plans.
