George Hani Comments on IRS Commissioner Succession Plan in Bloomberg BNA

Subtitle
"Koskinen Urges Naming of His Successor Amid Calls for Removal"

Bloomberg BNA

George Hani commented on the process for appointing a new Internal Revenue Service (IRS) commissioner. Commissioner Koskinen's term ends this November and he suggests the Trump administration name his successor soon as the vetting process is painstaking. An acting commissioner may be installed if a successor is not nominated and confirmed by November. "There are many fine people who can serve in acting roles, but anyone who is acting isn't fully invested with the authority and the strength of the organization," Hani said. "There are loads of open questions about lots of different things and the sooner we get resolution to those, the better."

Mr. Hani's comments were also included in Bloomberg BNA's Mergers & Acquisitions Law Report on April 10, 2017.
