Desmond joined Miller & Chevalier in February 2025 as the Co-Lead of the firm's Tax Controversy & Litigation practice and became Chair of the Tax department later that year. A nationally recognized tax lawyer, he previously served as the 48th Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service, where he led a team of approximately 1,500 attorneys and oversaw major regulatory and litigation matters involving federal tax law.
