FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, DC, September 30, 2008 - Miller & Chevalier Chartered today announced that Anthony J. Trenga, a former chair of the firm's Litigation Department, has been confirmed as a judge on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

On September 26, the U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed Trenga for federal judgeship. The nomination was co-sponsored by Senators John Warner (R-Va.) and Jim Webb (D-Va.). Trenga's legal career spans more than 30 years, including serving as counsel in more than 50 cases before the federal court in the Eastern District of Virginia.

"Tony has been a superb lawyer and a great leader while at Miller & Chevalier," said Marianna Dyson, Chair of Miller & Chevalier. "We know that he will be an outstanding addition to the judiciary and congratulate him on his appointment to this prestigious court."

Trenga's appointment is the second time in recent years that a current Miller & Chevalier Member has been named a federal judge. The Honorable John D. Bates was appointed a U.S. District Judge with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in 2001.

Trenga specializes in litigation and trial practice, focusing on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on business torts, ERISA, RICO, securities, professional liability and other fraud-based and fiduciary claims arising out of financial or business transactions. He has served as lead litigation and trial counsel in many complex, high stakes matters, both jury and non-jury.

A frequent lecturer on litigation and trial practice issues, Trenga is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has served as a member of the faculty of the National Trial Advocacy College at the University of Virginia, sponsored by the Virginia CLE Committee of the Virginia Bar Foundation. By appointment of the Chief Justice of the Virginia Supreme Court, he has served on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board.

Trenga earned an A.B., with honors, from Princeton University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. After law school, he was a law clerk to the Honorable Ted Dalton, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
