Miller & Chevalier Lawyers Co-Represent Fair Fight Action in Challenge of Georgia's Election System

Litigation Member Andrew Herman and Litigation Associate Sarah Dowd* are part of the legal team representing Fair Fight Action in its federal lawsuit challenging how Georgia's Secretary of State and Election Board manage its election system. Fair Fight Action pursues "accountability in Georgia's elections and integrity in the process of maintaining our voting rolls," and the lawsuit is meant to address the burdens faced by voters when trying to cast their ballots and to improve the state's election infrastructure and security.

In an article published by Slate, Richard Hasen, professor of law and political science, writes, "... it is smart to make an argument that the system cumulatively disenfranchises voters. Rather than focusing on one of the hurdles facing voters, this suit lays out all of the hurdles together. Voting should not be an obstacle course, but the lawsuit claims that's exactly what Georgia has created through a combination of misfeasance and malfeasance."
