Bloomberg Law

Former congressional tax counsel and Counselor to the IRS Commissioner Jorge Castro was quoted regarding the possibility of a future coronavirus relief package. Recent developments, including a positive August jobs report and potential agreement to pass a "clean" resolution to fund the government beyond September 30, decrease the chances Congress will pass new relief legislation. "If they get a sense that the economy is getting better without any further relief from Congress, congressional Republicans - they feel less pressure," Castro said. "I just don't see the political pressure to act on something this month."
