Jorge Castro was quoted regarding the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) work to modernize its 1099 online filing portal, saying it is "a big deal," and something policymakers should be able to support. The Taxpayer First Act, the 2019 IRS reform law, required the development of an online platform to file Form 1099 information returns. "I think it's important for tax administration. And it's important from the perspective of improving the taxpayer experience with the IRS," said Castro, a former Counselor to the IRS Commissioner. The upcoming online portal will be the basis for filing other IRS forms in the future.
