Jorge Castro commented on the U.S. Senate's confirmation of Michael Desmond to serve as Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Castro, who has known Desmond for almost 20 years and worked together in the private sector and during their government service, said his insight will be a boon to the agency. "Mike's practical private sector experience, in addition to his Treasury experience, will be a valuable resource for the IRS commissioner," said Castro, a former IRS and congressional tax staffer. "His expertise will be a significant help as the IRS continues to issue guidance implementing [the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act], and as the agency revises key administrative functions to more efficiently administer the new law."
