"FEMA Refines Scope of Medical Supply Export Ban"

Inside U.S. Trade

Brian Fleming* and Richard Mojica were quoted on the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) new exemptions which provide clarification on the temporary export ban of certain medical supplies. The FEMA rule "was so broad that I think a lot of people were quite concerned that it was going to be counterproductive," Fleming said. "There was very little if no guidance and people didn't really understand how this was all going to be managed."

Mojica stated FEMA's clarifications were "the result of people like us, picking up the phone and emailing relevant agencies trying to get more details" on "their interpretation of the exemptions and nuances of the rule."
