Miller & Chevalier's representation of Michael McAlister was mentioned in The Washington Post. Lawyers James Bensfield and Jonathan Kossak* filed a joint pardon petition on behalf of McAlister, who has served 29 years in prison for a 1986 crime he did not commit. The pardon petition awaits the decision of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe. "Virginia governors have granted pardon requests joined by prosecutors about seven times in the past, including three cases that did not involve DNA claims, according to the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project, which along with Washington law firm Miller & Chevalier represents McAlister," the article said.
