Kevin Kenworthy Quoted in Compliance Week Regarding Supreme Court Rejection of Textron Appeal

"Textron Ruling Leaves Tax Compliance Dazed, Confused"

Compliance Week

Kevin Kenworthy discusses the Supreme Court's refusal to hear the appeal in United States v. Textron, allowing an earlier federal appeals court decision giving the IRS access to the company’s tax-accrual work papers to stand. "It would be a mistake to view Textron as limited to just tax," he says. "The government or other private litigants may be emboldened to ask for their adversaries' work papers on other issues. It could apply to any situation where a publicly traded company has to evaluate the contingent liabilities they face and have a discussion with their auditors."
