Andrew Wise was quoted regarding the Supreme Court's ruling that double jeopardy does not bar a retrial on bribery charges in Bravo-Fernandez v. U.S., a case in which the defendants were convicted on a bribery charge but acquitted on functionally equivalent travel act counts. Wise said the case illustrates how the bribery statute can confuse juries. "In some ways it says more about the continuing problems with the vagueness of the bribery statute than anything else," he said.
