Miller & Chevalier hosted a trade policy breakfast featuring Ms. Barbara Weisel, Assistant United States Trade Representative for Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

Ms. Weisel is the senior official and executive branch point person responsible for U.S. trade and foreign direct investment relations with Southeast Asia and the Pacific. For example, she is the lead official on the recently announced Trans Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Initiative (TPP). She has been the lead negotiator on the Malaysia and Thailand free trade agreement negotiations, was the deputy lead negotiator on the Australia free trade agreement, and has worked on a variety of other countries and issues in her time at USTR. She started her career in the Department of State. Ms. Weisel is a highly experienced official and this event promises to include a timely look at U.S. engagement in this dynamic and rapidly integrating part of the world where so much is at stake.
