Kathryn Cameron Atkinson and Leila Babaeva Named to GIR Women in Investigations 2015

Washington, DC, April 1, 2015 -- Miller & Chevalier Chartered today announced that Kathryn Cameron Atkinson, firm Member and International Department Chair, and Leila Babaeva, Senior Associate, were named to Global Investigations Review's (GIR) Women in Investigations 2015. This special inaugural feature profiles 100 women investigations specialists from around the world. According to GIR, the goal of the publication is to highlight "lawyers, government prosecutors, barristers, forensic accountants and various in-house counsel, all of whom can serve as inspirations to current and future generations of investigations professionals."

GIR selected individuals following an open nomination process. Once selected, nominees were interviewed about their professional paths and mentors, important career moments, challenges and successes as investigations specialists. When asked for advice to for younger women lawyers, Atkinson said women should pay close attention from day one to what inspires them and what doesn't. "You will need to push yourself past your comfort zone at times, but you need to be aware of that zone because it is hard to sustain a career if you're outside it too much of the time," she said. "It's hard to appreciate when you start out just how long a career lasts; you need a good internal compass to guide you," she said.

"I am always inspired by those who are at the peak of their professions and yet continue to approach each new project with energy and enthusiasm. My parents have this mindset, and I'm lucky to work with many such individuals at Miller & Chevalier," Babaeva said.
