Robert Kovacev was quoted on potential priorities of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in advance of confirmation hearing of Daniel Werfel as the new IRS commissioner. The question is how the IRS will allocate the $80 billion in funding it is scheduled to receive over the next 10 years through the Inflation Reduction Act, which Congress passed in August. "I think that $80 billion gives the IRS some choices on how to improve what they didn't have before," Kovacev said. "They could spend it on new revenue agents, or new technology investments to make it fairer and more efficient."
