Danielle Winston is a Senior Associate in the Litigation Department at Miller and Chevalier Chartered, focused on counseling and representing domestic and international corporate and individual clients in securities enforcement and compliance actions, government investigations, white collar criminal defense, and internal and regulatory investigations. Ms. Winston has negotiated complex issues with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) on behalf of clients and led a team of attorneys in responding to DOJ and SEC subpoenas pertaining to a multi-million-dollar fraud investigation. Ms. Winston conducts witness interviews, prepares witnesses for government interviews, handles internal reviews, responds to government regulatory enforcement activities, and manages the review and analysis of document productions.

Ms. Winston has an active pro bono practice. In 2019, she helped obtain asylum for a non-citizen who suffered religious persecution at the hands of the Angolan government. She prevailed before the Immigration Judge, and successfully defended her client in an appeal by the Department of Homeland Security, all while communicating with her client exclusively in French.

Prior to joining Miller & Chevalier, Ms. Winston was an Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm where she focused on mergers and acquisitions and representation of both accelerator programs and emerging companies. Ms. Winston has experience with transactions in various industries, including health care, packaging, cybersecurity, and software services.

Ms. Winston received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as an executive editor of the American Criminal Law Review. She represented clients as a student attorney in the Georgetown Criminal Justice Clinic and interned for the Honorable Reggie B. Walton of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Prior to pursuing a law degree and while in law school, Ms. Winston worked at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, supporting Assistant U.S. Attorneys and detectives in criminal investigations and litigation in the Homicide and Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Sections.

Ms. Winston is fluent in French and proficient in Italian.
