Welles Orr Quoted Regarding Tariff Hike Threat Effect on U.S.-China Trade Deal in Barron's

"What Trump's Latest Tariff Threat Means For Investors"

Welles Orr was quoted regarding the latest turn in a trade war between U.S. and China following President Trump's threat to impose 10 percent tariffs on another $300 billion in Chinese imports. The latest tariff threat is a "real slap in the face to Beijing," Orr said. "This seriously weakens prospects for making meaningful process in the next round and must sour any good vibes that came out of [this week's] meeting. Unless the U.S. administration makes measurably clearer commitments to relax restrictions on Huawei, I would imagine the Chinese side will take a 'go slow' approach to completing a trade deal."
