Welles Orr, a former assistant trade representative in the George H.W. Bush administration, commented on the impact retaliatory tariffs levied against the U.S. by China, Canada, and others will have on American farmers. "They're first in line to feel the pinch — and they'll be the last to recover once the tariffs get lifted," Orr said. "This isn't sustainable" for the Trump administration, he added. "They have to get a deal and call it a win."
