"Worries over fate of NAFTA hit Detroit's neighbors"

Welles Orr commented on the ongoing NAFTA talks between the U.S. and Canada. Many are hopeful a final agreement can be reached. "I think there's good momentum and I think there's good honest brokering. They've got their full teams engaged on this, and I feel positive they can get to an agreement" said Orr, who served as assistant U.S. trade representative for congressional affairs in the George H.W. Bush administration. "It's conceivable this could be the first big win for President Trump's administration. He's railed against this thing (NAFTA) and they've been at the negotiating table for now over a year. He needs a win on trade and this would be a win on trade … it would be a good modernized deal if Canada is brought into it."
