Richard A. Mojica Named to Law360's 2018 Rising Stars List

Washington, DC, July 30, 2018 – Miller & Chevalier Chartered today announced that Richard A. Mojica, a Member in the firm's International Department, was named to Law360's Rising Stars for 2018. Law360 said the list features lawyers under 40 "whose legal accomplishments transcend their age." Mojica was selected as one of five International Trade lawyers; Law360 received more than 1,200 nominations from over 80 firms and across 36 practice areas. Winners were selected "based on their career accomplishments in their respective disciplines," according to a statement by Law360.

In the profile, Mojica said that when advising companies on import trade policy, he is motivated by a desire to solve challenges on behalf of his clients, especially when he is able to produce tangible results for them. "When done right, you are able to save a company money and that’s something that is always very well-received," he said.

Mojica counsels U.S. and international companies on how to minimize the cost of importing merchandise into the United States through strategic customs planning and duty-savings programs. He counsels companies on matters including customs audits and investigations, penalty proceedings, voluntary disclosures, AD/CVD enforcement, trade-focused M&A due diligence, and compliance assessments. He represents clients in litigation before the U.S. Court of International Trade and advises them on U.S. anti-corruption compliance matters, particularly those involving customs-related issues and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). He also routinely assists with internal investigations in Latin America given his language skills and familiarity with the local culture. Mojica previously served as an attorney with U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP's) Office of Regulations and Rulings and was a U.S. delegate to the World Customs Organization in Brussels while at CBP. He earned a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, and a B.A., cum laude, from the University of Michigan.
