Miller & Chevalier Elects Two New Members to Tax and International Practices

Washington, DC, January 22, 2018 – Miller & Chevalier Chartered recently elected two lawyers, Jarrett Y. Jacinto and Richard A. Mojica, as Members of the firm. The promotion was effective January 1.

"We congratulate Jarrett and Richard, who bring deep subject-matter knowledge and impressive credentials to our Membership," said Marc J. Gerson, Chair of Miller & Chevalier. "Both are dedicated to providing successful results for the firm's clients and we look forward to their future contributions as they take this important step in their careers."

Jarrett Y. Jacinto practices in the area of federal income tax with an emphasis on tax planning and controversy. His recent work includes serving as a key member of a team representing firm client The Coca-Cola Company in the company's Tax Court case against the Internal Revenue Service concerning a $9.4 billion transfer pricing adjustment related to its licensing of intangible property to foreign affiliates, for which trial is set to begin March 5. Earlier in his career, Jacinto worked for the Boeing Company and also participated in its business career foundation program. Jacinto earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center; a M.B.A. from George Washington University; and a B.B.A., with honors, from the University of Hawaii. While at Georgetown, Jacinto received the Sewell Key Award for excellence in the study of federal taxation.

Richard A. Mojica counsels U.S. and international companies on how to minimize the cost of importing merchandise into the United States through strategic customs planning and duty-savings programs. Companies turn to him for counseling on matters including customs audits and investigations, penalty proceedings, voluntary disclosures, AD/CVD enforcement, trade-focused M&A due diligence, and compliance assessments. He also represents clients in litigation before the U.S. Court of International Trade. In addition, Mojica advises clients on U.S. anti-corruption compliance matters, particularly those involving customs-related issues and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and routinely assists with internal investigations in Latin America given his language skills and familiarity with the local culture. He previously served as an attorney with U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP's) Office of Regulations and Rulings and was a U.S. delegate to the World Customs Organization in Brussels while at CBP. He earned a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, and a B.A., cum laude, from the University of Michigan.
