"One trend to watch is the growing FCPA enforcement focus on Latin American individuals. The spike in the number of resolved actions against individuals in 2019 (40 percent of which were charged with conduct that took place in full or in part in Latin America) demonstrates that U.S. authorities are focused on prosecuting individuals. We should expect this trend to continue both globally and in Latin America," Ellis said.
