"The Perspective of American Lawyers on Corruption in Belarus and the Region"

James Tillen and Maryna Kavaleuskaya* were quoted on the objectives and key findings of the firm's recently released ECA Corruption Survey. "Our main goal was to evaluate the scale of corruption in the ECA region and to provide a comprehensive analysis into the specifics of corruption in the surveyed countries to help businesses evaluate risks and develop effective measures to minimize them," Kavaleuskaya said. Comparing this survey to the Latin American Corruption Survey in 2016, Tillen said, "an area of divergence between the regions relates to familiarity with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the aggressive U.S. law that prohibits bribery of non-U.S. officials. Perhaps because of geographic proximity, 72 percent of Latin America respondents are familiar with the FCPA, whereas only 52 percent of ECA respondents are familiar."

Tillen's and Kavaleuskaya's were also quoted by Radio Free Europe.
