Marketing Director
Overview: Under the guidance of the Chief Marketing Officer, the Marketing Director will manage the marketing and business development functions for the firm's Litigation and International practices, as well as implement various firm-wide marketing and business development initiatives . This position is responsible for providing strategic marketing guidance and executing on the tactics identified to achieve specific marketing, business development, profile raising, and client retention and expansion objectives.
Practice area (International and Litigation) specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- supporting the practices' strategic and business planning efforts;
- developing strategies to identify new business opportunities and expand existing client relationships (including preparing cross selling plans);
- coordinating responses to and background research for RFPs, as well as tracking business generated from those responses, and identifying reasons for not securing the business;
- preparing client development pitches and presentations;
- directing client-development events;
- providing targeted research on clients, prospects and competitors;
- researching relevant industry and market trends;
- identifying speaking , publishing and sponsorship opportunities to meet credentialing and profile raising objectives;
- identifying media outreach opportunities;
- coordinating internal firm-wide communications to promote recent successes and other relevant developments;
- drafting and updating electronic and hard copy collateral materials; and
- working with the CMO to integrate and promote new laterals.
Firm-wide responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- preparing submissions for Chambers and other significant practice area rankings;
- developing strategies and preparing materials to maximize on business development opportunities presented by Miller & Chevalier’s international and industry sector experience;
- supporting individual attorney business planning efforts;
- developing systems for evaluating ROI on marketing and business development initiatives;
- working with the CMO to develop the annual marketing/business development budget;
- developing representative engagement and client case study databases; and
- serving as editor of the internal Center Stage newsletter.
Requirements: Several years of demonstrated success in a senior capacity in a marketing and/or communications-related field in the professional services arena (preferably a law firm); four-year degree is required; a degree in marketing, business, research, or a communications-related field is preferred; demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience; strong written and oral communication skills; conversancy with CRM technology
and web-based applications; demonstrated good judgment; “boardroom” presence; a team-first orientation; and stamina. Three writing samples illustrative of the candidate’s ability to produce effective marketing and communications materials are required.
Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
